Are you drinking Coconut Water?
If not, then you should be. A lot of people have been asking me lately, "Simon, what's the big deal about coconut water?" Celebrities and health fanatics alike have been raving about the wonders of coconut water, so I did a little research and here's what I've learned. Coconut water is the second purest liquid next to water itself! This pure water comes from unripe or green coconuts. When the coconut is ripe, the water inside will harden and become a part of the white flesh of the coconut, which is used to make coconut milk.
Coconut water is full of electrolytes, calcium, potassium and magnesium which makes it basically like an all natural sports drink. One cup-full of coconut water contains more electrolytes than most sports drinks and more potassium than a banana.
We carry a few different coconut waters throughout the store:
Zico Coconut Water
Zico used to come in an aseptic package, but now comes in this handy re-sealable plastic bottle. There are many different flavors that add a fun twist to the drink.
Naked Juice Coconut Water
You will find this cold in the Naked Juice cooler of most stores. Super clean taste and comes in a handy aseptic package.
C2O Coconut Water
This one comes from Thailand and has a slightly different flavor that I love. It comes in a can and it stays super cold. It is quickly becoming one of our best sellers.
Vitacoco Coconut Water
Vitacoco has been around the longest and is an excellent coconut water. To my taste buds it’s a little thicker than the others, with a little more pulp worked in with the water.
For whatever you are doing outdoors this weekend try rehydrating with coconut water.
Mmmm…popchips! You know I love them. What’s not to love? No artificial colors, flavors or anything really bad for you. Katy Perry apparently loves them too and recently partnered with popchips to create her own new flavor.
I usually don’t get crazy for Kettle Corn, as I like salty more than sweet, but let's just say, I tried Katy Perry's new Kettle Corn popchips, and I liked it!
They have the perfect blend of sweet and salty with all the popchips goodness. ... more »

Perhaps you have a vegetarian coming over for Thanksgiving this year. Seems every family has somebody nowadays that is not eating meat. Struggling over what to feed them? Well, I know that Thanksgiving is all about the Turkey but being a veggie myself, I can tell you that you don’t really need to do anything all that special for your vegetarian family or friends.
We wouldn’t want you to miss out on all of the delicious holiday beverages this year! After all, they only come around once. With Silk®’s healthy alternatives, we are able to indulge on all of them. We are so excited to have Silk® Nog Soymilk and Silk ®Mint Chocolate Soymilk in our Foodland stores! It is on Maikai for $3.99 for the 32 oz carton.
I finally got to try the Silk® Fruit & Protein drinks! But let me tell you, it wasn’t easy….
When I originally got samples of the three flavors, I organized a tasting within our office for a few people to try. I ended up getting called into a meeting and when I came out, the containers were all empty and I had nothing but glowing reviews.
Then, I went and bought one at Foodland Beretania and my niece polished it off before I ever got a chance at it!
Have you tried cooking with coconut oil yet?
It has become a staple in my house, but often when I tell people about this wonderful oil, I hear something to the effect of, “aren’t tropical oils bad for you?” I also heard a lot about coconut oil being high in saturated fat, which didn’t sound good either.
Anybody remember that Reese’s Peanut butter commercial (I might be dating myself here) where the guys are walking around the corner…one is eating chocolate and the other is eating peanut butter. They bump into each other and create a truly wonderful flavor combination. Well…it took a few decades but that winning combination of chocolate and peanut butter might have just got beat out by coconut and peanut butter! I just finished my first jar of Earth Balance Coconut and Peanut Spread ... more »
