This Saturday at Foodland Kailua, we're excited to have world renown Chef Roy Yamaguchi of Roy's Hawaii demonstrating a wonderful Okinawan Spicy Miso Pork featuring Dean Okimoto's 'Nalo Farms Baby Greens. Chef Roy is the co-event chair of the 2014 Hawaii Food & Wine Festival, and Foodland is thrilled to be a sponsor of this premier epicurean destination event in the Pacific. Chef Roy Yamaguchi is often credited as the creator of “Hawaiian Fusion® Cuisine,” a combination of exotic flavors and spices mixed with the freshest of local ingredients, always with an emphasis on seafood. Born in Tokyo, he graduated from the Culinary Institute of America in New York and opened his first Roy’s in Hawai‘i in 1988. The restaurant was soon dubbed the “crown jewel of Honolulu’s East-West eateries” by Food & Wine and added to the Condé Nast Traveler Top 50 list. There are now 31 Roy’s in Hawai‘i, the Continental United States, Japan and Guam.

Dean Okimoto, President of ‘Nalo Farms, is the featured Hawaii farmer who's specialty greens, herbs, micro’s, sprouts and tomatoes grown in Waimanalo have been enjoyed all across Hawaii in both local restaurants such as Roy's and available at your local Foodland and Sack N Save locations. Dean Okimoto currently serves as the Hawaii Farm Bureau Federation President and continues his role as Hawaii Agricultural Foundation Chairman, as well as serving many other agricultural, culinary, and community based organizations, committees, task forces, and boards.
The following Saturday (August 16, 11 am), we're thrilled to have Chef Wade Ueoka of the acclaimed "Best New Restaurant" - MW Restaurant - show off his skills at Foodland Kapolei!
