OnoPops - handmade in Hawaii!
I like to do the Master Cleanse a couple of times a year to help regulate my system and get rid of accumulated toxins. For those of you who have never done it, you basically don’t eat any food for 10 days and live on a concoction of lemon juice, maple syrup, and cayenne pepper. It’s an amazing experience to go through and I always come out of it with an increased appreciation of food!
I was on day 5 of the cleanse when Josh and Joe from Onopops came by the office for a cutting of OnoPops…I am still kicking myself for missing out on that one!
I assembled a group from within our office and had everyone try them. What I loved to see was that every flavor had a defender and everyone soon latched onto a favorite.
Onopops has come up with amazing flavor combinations that have taken the boring world of popsicles to a whole new culinary level.
I know that you have had a 50-50 bar but instead of dipping the bar in orange they use local lilikoi!
One of our best sellers has been the Strawberry Lemonade. They only use Kula Strawberries and Meyer Lemons from the Big Island. This is a great one for the kids but it is not overly sweet…it has just right amount of tartness.
Having missed out on the tasting I have been trying to catch up on all the flavors. This is ranking high on my list of favorites:
The Onopops team is dedicated to using local ingredients and has really created a buzz within the popsicle world. The Onopops freezer has a great sense of discovery to it…seems that they are always working on new and exciting seasonal flavors.
I wonder if they could create a lemon juice, maple syrup, and cayenne pepper one for me next time?
Right now, you can find them on Oahu at our Ala Moana, Kailua, Pupukea, and Foodland Farms Aina Haina stores. On Maui you will find them on the Westside at Foodland Farms Lahaina and soon to be at Foodland Kihei and Pukalani. On the Big Island, you will find them at Foodland Farms Mauna Lani. We are working on expanding to more stores, so if you would like to see them at a particular store, please leave a comment and let me know!
Mmmm…popchips! You know I love them. What’s not to love? No artificial colors, flavors or anything really bad for you. Katy Perry apparently loves them too and recently partnered with popchips to create her own new flavor.
I usually don’t get crazy for Kettle Corn, as I like salty more than sweet, but let's just say, I tried Katy Perry's new Kettle Corn popchips, and I liked it!
They have the perfect blend of sweet and salty with all the popchips goodness. ... more »

Perhaps you have a vegetarian coming over for Thanksgiving this year. Seems every family has somebody nowadays that is not eating meat. Struggling over what to feed them? Well, I know that Thanksgiving is all about the Turkey but being a veggie myself, I can tell you that you don’t really need to do anything all that special for your vegetarian family or friends.
We wouldn’t want you to miss out on all of the delicious holiday beverages this year! After all, they only come around once. With Silk®’s healthy alternatives, we are able to indulge on all of them. We are so excited to have Silk® Nog Soymilk and Silk ®Mint Chocolate Soymilk in our Foodland stores! It is on Maikai for $3.99 for the 32 oz carton.
I finally got to try the Silk® Fruit & Protein drinks! But let me tell you, it wasn’t easy….
When I originally got samples of the three flavors, I organized a tasting within our office for a few people to try. I ended up getting called into a meeting and when I came out, the containers were all empty and I had nothing but glowing reviews.
Then, I went and bought one at Foodland Beretania and my niece polished it off before I ever got a chance at it!
Have you tried cooking with coconut oil yet?
It has become a staple in my house, but often when I tell people about this wonderful oil, I hear something to the effect of, “aren’t tropical oils bad for you?” I also heard a lot about coconut oil being high in saturated fat, which didn’t sound good either.
Anybody remember that Reese’s Peanut butter commercial (I might be dating myself here) where the guys are walking around the corner…one is eating chocolate and the other is eating peanut butter. They bump into each other and create a truly wonderful flavor combination. Well…it took a few decades but that winning combination of chocolate and peanut butter might have just got beat out by coconut and peanut butter! I just finished my first jar of Earth Balance Coconut and Peanut Spread ... more »
