Seven Deadly Zins & Petite Petit
Five generations of the Phillips family have worked the land and developed these beautiful wines, dating all the way back to the Civil War era. Michael and David Phillips are the brothers who now run the vineyards, develop the wines, design the labels and even write the poetry on the back label (read the Seven Deadly Zins back label for insight on how they related the Seven Sins from their Catholic school upbringing to the seven Old Vine Zinfandels blended in their wine.) Michael and David have developed a series of really fun, yet seriously delicious wines. Here are two of our favorites:
SEVEN DEADLY ZINS
A sinful blend indeed! This is the flagship Zinfandel from Michael David. The two Phillips brothers wanted to find and develop a blended Zin so captivating that nobody could resist it. In the end, Seven Old Vine Zinfandel vineyards were chosen for their superior fruit and when you taste it, you are rewarded with sweet raspberry pie notes, vanilla, blueberry, cinnamon, and black pepper. This is one rich, full-bodied, opulent, luscious Zinfandel! A journey thru Seven Delicious Delights, in a word, yummy!
We loved this wine so much, that Keoni the Top Chef raved about it last month and we nearly sold out at some locations! Yes, it is hard to ignore the elephant in the room. Like elephants whose size is imposing, Petite Petit is large! Keoni loves it, and I would agree that it's a joyous explosion of color and fun!
This is a full-bodied, whopper style of wine loaded with pure black fruit and vanilla flavors that coat the palate with purple pleasure. Plus, this is the perfect wine to enjoy with a big juicy hamburger! A summertime barbecue celebration of richness and flavor!
Michael David Winery is known for being innovative, making great wine and having fun. Invite these wines to your next party.
Look for them both on sale today and tomorrow at a really hot price!
Looking for some awesome quality wines at super prices? Well, we are excited to share some info about these three wonderful favorites on sale this Friday, Sept. 26 through Sunday, Sept. 28 for just $11.99 a bottle.
Avalon Napa Cabernet
Ireland and Hawaii are over 7,000 miles away from each other, but based on the celebration of St. Patrick's Day on the islands, you would think they were much closer. It's always a special celebration for our team here at Foodland, considering our Irish roots with our founder Maurice "Sully" Sullivan.
We set out on our latest trip to California wine country with one goal in mind: find a new, outstanding, but very affordable wine that our customers will not only enjoy, but LOVE. The trip took us through the famous wine regions of Napa, Sonoma, and Central California, where we explored a variety of vineyards from the well-known and established to smaller, less recognizable, family-run operations.
The New Year is just around the corner and here are some helpful tips to ring in the New Year with nice glass of bubbly Champagne!
Pouring sparkling wine doesn't have to be complicated. First off, the best thing you can do for your bubbly is to keep it extremely cold. The colder it is, the more you are preserving the bubbles and the less messy it will be to open and pour.
Have you tried Wines that Rock? We introduced these wines at our Princeville location about three months ago, and as soon as we put them on the shelves, customers were picking up the bottles and even taking pictures with their favorite iconic rock albums featured on the labels.
We had heard the buzz about Skinnygirl® Margaritas a while back and several of our customers were even asking us about when we were going to start carrying this hot new low calorie ready to serve cocktail at Foodland.
Well, we brought in Skinnygirl® Margaritas late last year, and it surprised us in two ways: 1. How great it tasted for a so called "low calorie" beverage and 2. How hard it was to keep it on the shelves!

All of us foodies that watch every Chef and Food show on the Food Network could not help but notice the new wine being talked about on the Food Network. Wente Winery and the Food Network have partnered together to craft a new wine called ENTWINE wine. The goal was to offer everyday wine for everyday people to enjoy with everyday food. No foo-foo fancy foods, and no wines that you need a second mortgage to purchase.
As I pour my can of Guinness Draught into a tulip shaped glass I watch that authentic surging and cascading of “tiny bubbles” in the glass and wait patiently for my first sip, the same way I have to wait when a bartender pulls a Guinness from the tap. The unique can utilizes a built in ‘widget’ which provides the right mix of nitrogen and carbon dioxide and helps create the perfect creamy head.
Sure enough, if I close my eyes as I take a sip, I feel like I’m at my favorite pub in ... more »
