Strawberries & Petite Petit

I was looking at this week's ad and I was blown away by two cool things!

First, Ed our Prince of Pau Hana is offering a limited supply of Petite Petit by Michael David.
I personally am a fan of this particular little gem. The wine is made of a blend of petite syrah and petit verdot. It is a really nice jammy, plummey (is that a word) wine... He's offering it at close to 1/3 of the price you would pay in a restaurant. Heck, the whole bottle is selling for the cost of a glass at the place I originally tried it!

Second, James, our Produce Guru is offering strawberries at two for one... Can't go wrong there...

So, what to do with two things I love?

Mix them...

Here is what I am going to do this weekend, and I suggest you do as well.

Take some of those ripe beautiful berries and quarter them...

Next, take a little of the precious Petite Petit and splash the berries. You know, give them a good little drink. They deserve it.

Then, sprinkle just a little sugar on the mixture. Let it sit for 15 minutes or so.

When you are ready, put a few scoops of your favorite vanilla bean ice cream in a bowl and top with the berries. By then, the wine will have macerated with the berries and you will have a wonderful little sauce.

Finally, sit back and enjoy all the sighs and accolades you receive from your friends and guests.
