Congratulations to the Class of 2011!

Here in Hawaii, Graduation is a unique and special event. Friends and family pour countless lei around the neck of a graduating student, often times stacking so high that you can hardly recognize the face of the student buried underneath.

Whether you are graduating from high school or college, Foodland is your graduation headquarters for this momentous occasion. From Haku lei, which sit upon one’s head like a floral crown, to the traditional Orchid or Ti Leaf variety, you’ll find ... more »

Hāna Fresh Farm

The Road to Hāna, Maui is a gorgeous scenic drive connecting Kahului, where Maui's main airport resides (Route 36), to the remote town of Hāna (Route 360), and wrapping it's way down to the south side of the island (Route 31). For all it's beauty, this breathtaking journey is not for the faint of heart, as it winds through hairpin turns, narrow single lane bridges & portions of unpaved highway. Fortunately for us, you can get a taste of Hāna at select Foodland stores without having to ... more »

Kenneth Volk Merlot Paso Robles 2006

One of the things that our wine expert, Ed the Prince of Pau Hana, has been working really hard at doing is dialing up the variety and selection of our wines.

Celebrating Foodland's 63rd Anniversary

As our company celebrates its 63rd anniversary this week, I can’t help but think about what it must have been like on May 6th, 1948 when our founders, Irish immigrant “Sully” Sullivan and his Chinese immigrant future mother-in law, “Mama” Lau opened the doors to the first Foodland at the corner of Kapiolani and Harding Avenues in Honolulu. I’ve heard the story of that day so many times and looked at the photos so often that if I close my eyes I can almost feel the pride, excitement and ... more »

Honoring Sully at McDonald's Aina Haina Blessing

If you've driven through East Oahu in the last few months and noticed that there were suddenly two McDonald's next door to each other at Aina Haina Shopping Center, you might have wondered what was going on.

ColdFyyre Ice Cream, made in Hawaii

You might say that locally grown produce is expected here in Hawaii, but would you believe we even have ice cream that's made locally?

Ho Farms Mini Cucumber

Do you like the sweet, delicious, crisp texture of a Japanese Cucumber?

If you do, then you have got to try these Mini Cucumbers grown in Kahuku by Ho Farms.

They are basically a mini version of the local favorite, Japanese Cucumber, and are great to add to salads or use in sushi. I like the fresh crispness so much, I just add a little salt and eat them right out of the hand.
