Our company Vice Chairman, Roger Wall, has been named the Hawaii State Chair for the 2012 March for Babies, which helps raise money to support expectant mothers and babies right here in Hawaii. This year’s March for Babies, sponsored by Foodland, will have the support of more than 45,000 people at five walk sites on four islands including 5,000 walkers, 500 volunteers and 40,000 contributors.
Roger knows firsthand how important the March of Dimes is for our community because he was born 8 weeks prematurely and weighed only 4 pounds! His family experienced the worry and struggle that these tiny babies and their families face every day. Imagine not being able to hold your baby, not knowing if your baby will live and if he does, if he will suffer lifelong health problems. Just like Roger’s family did many years ago, thousands of families face this tragic situation. In fact, one in eight babies is born prematurely in the United States. Fortunately, March of Dimes is here to help. Please join Roger and our Foodland teams this year by walking and helping to raise money to support this important cause.
