This Saturday will be our final Hawaii's Farmers & Chefs Event in support of the upcoming third-annual Hawaii Food and Wine Festival and will be highlighting locally grown MA‘O Organic Farms Kale and our very own Corporate Chef Keoni Chang. Join us at 11 am on August 10 at Foodland Farms Aina Haina to see Chef Keoni Chang prepare a Pulled Huli Chicken Salad with MA‘O Farms Kale and a creamy Soy Mustard dressing.
Afer graduating from the Culinary Institute of America, Chef Keoni Chang was an apprentice at the legendary Greenbrier Resort and also worked as a chef in New York City at the Windows on the World at the World Trade Center. He then went on to serve as the executive Sous Chef at the Eiffel Tower Restaurant at the Paris Hotel in Las Vegas. Chef Chang later moved back home to Hawaii and was the chef at Ryan’s before joining Foodland. Here at Foodland, Chef Keoni Chang develops recipes for our various departments including the seafood department (poke selections) and the bakery and deli (prepared foods). His goal is to create restaurant-quality food that can be purchased everyday at your local Foodland and Sack N Save stores.
Gary Maunakea-Forth is the Managing Director and Kukui Maunakea-Forth is the Executive Director of MA‘O Organic Farms in Waianae, which we proudly partner with to bring fresh organic produce to select Foodland stores on Oahu . In addition to growing certified organic produce, MA‘O Organic Farms offers career direction and leadership training to Oahu's youth - all of whom have grown up in the nearby Waianae community. We are excited to have the Maunakea-Forth ohana join us to talk story about their fresh local kale grown here at Hawaii's largest certified organic farm.
Our Hawaii's Farmers & Chefs Events are a great way to meet and greet your local farmers and chefs, so we hope you'll come and check it out. We'll also be featuring an in-store Foodland gift basket giveaway for one lucky customer, so come on down and check out this fun demonstration of local MA‘O Organic Farms and Chef Keoni Chang's delicious dish.
