Foodland's Share a Holiday Feast Program began in 1988 at the suggestion of a Maui customer who wanted to donate a turkey to a needy family during Thanksgiving. She felt that other customers might want to do the same. Thanks to a partnership with The Salvation Army, that small idea has enabled Foodland and its customers to provide thousands of holiday meals to families in need over the years.

Participation in Share a Holiday Feast during the holidays is easy. Customers can choose to donate $5, $10 or $20 towards a holiday dinner for a family of 4-6. Customers simply tear off a $5, $10, or $20 donation slip at the checkout of any Foodland, Sack N Save or Foodland Farms store, and the cashier will add the donation to the grocery purchase. A donation of $5 can help to provide holiday fixings, $10 can help to provide a holiday turkey,
and $20 can help to provide a turkey and fixings. All donations are turned into Share a Holiday Feast Certificates and distributed to families in need by The Salvation Army on the island where donations were received.
